24A – Venture Concept No. 1

A venture concept that combines both oppurtinity and innovation is the invention of a beach to beachfront-property stair that is durable and removable. On the coasts and especially in Florida, we face a lot of hurricanes and high intensity storms. These storms frequently result in the loss of stairs from beach front property that give access to the shore. These replacement stairs are costly and take time to source, especially after a crisis. This oppurtunity is a geographically defined market, as it is most helpful for people who need replacable staircases in areas such as lakes and ocean-front. Customers currently satisfy this need with wooden stairs that are sturdy, but do wash away in a large storm. Considering these stairs are high quality, they are costly to replace. Considering this, an alternative to conventional stairs is anticipated and needed. This window of oppurtunity is available until someone else sells a removable, reusable set of stairs. However, in the future, this need will only increase as storms become worse due to global warming and erosion eliminates more and more beach.
This is an innovation upon a current product. Currently, the solution is a wooden staircase that is cemented into the sand and built along the bulkhead. Having a removable metal stair case that is light weight and anchored to the bulkhead with struts is a proper solution that eliminates the constant replacement and maintenence of wooden stairs.
I think customers would want to swith to this product because it would save them significant amounts of money, Replacement stairs are not cheap by any means, and often times take a long time to replace after a large distaster such as Hurricane Michael. Especially after a particularly rough storm, I think it would be relatively easy to convince homeowners to change to this product in order to eliminate costs.

Three minor elements with this product would be: removable, lightweight, and sturdy.
I think the most important resource is removable, so that when homeowners are prepping for a big storm, they can easily remove the stairs so they don't get washed away.
In the next five years, I can exit the market having sold replacable stairs first and exiting before other copycats do it better and cheaper.

    Great job on your Venture Concept. I agree this is a great idea, and something I honestly never have even thought of. This could be a great sell to people who are afraid of hurricane season. I live very close to the beach, and when hurricane season comes around my whole family boards up the house and we go to Orlando with relatives to ensure safety. This is definitely something I can see working out, especially if you targeted this audience. Great post!

18A – Create a Customer Avatar

If I can imagine a prototypical customer for my product, it would be either be a mom and pop shop with a more nutritious/eco-friendly mentality or an eco-warrior Millenial/gen z. What do  you  have in common with the customer avatar? Although I am a zoomer, I am unfortunately not very environmentally proactive. I am conscious of my own impact on the environment and my pollution contribution.  If you have anything in common with the avatar, do you think that is a coincidence? Why? It's not a coincidence. We are similar because we faced the same customer need. If I experience this discrepancy on a day to day basis as a young person in a single use straw banned county, then others have too.
