https://mycbs4.com/news/local/uf-student-dies-from-injuries-after-getting-hit-by-car
According to the article, Denise Griffiths passed away leaving school after being hit by a car on University, one of the main streets surrounding campus. She was pronounced brain dead after a severe injury to her spinal cord.
The problem is vehicle and pedestrian safety in the Gainesville area, and especially on campus. Pedestrians should be able to cross the street without risk to their life. Ensuring the safety of students like Denise when they cross the streets in and around campus is crucial. Students, faculty, visitors, other pedestrians, police, EMT, and drivers all are stakeholders in this issue.

A recent study by the Center for Disease Control has named two Florida cities as the top cities for STD cases (mostly HIV).
The problem is the spread of sexually transmitted infections from person to person in two local cities. This puts many people at risk for their health and financially. People who have this problem are anyone that engages in unprotected intercourse and put themselves at risk for these diseases. Doctors, healthy persons, and families of these people also have a concern for finding a solution to this ongoing issue.

Police warn of popular scamming methods

https://mycbs4.com/news/local/dewarn-of-popular-scamming-methods
The Chiefland police department is warning citizens that there are two new scamming methods circulating. The first involves an automated call that insists your social security number is compromised and asks for personal information. The second 'Dr. Pepper' scheme involves cashing checks from trucks that will then remove all the money from that account.
This is a problem because residents are at risk for their identity and money to be taken. People who have this problem include anyone that can recieve spam calls or lives in the targeted area, which poses a great risk. Older citizens and non-tech savvy people are also at elevated risk because they are an easier target for scammers.

Alachua County and other local townships are doing an annual survey of homeless persons in their area. Volunteers are needed in order to get an accurate number and to cover all potential numbers in the area.
The problem is that elevated numbers of homelessness call for an additional team of people to keep track of their whereabouts, and numbers. The persons this is a problem for includes the AC, ACRs, the homeless, University students and faculty, police, and the volunteers called for.

Road closures in Levy County due to flooding

https://mycbs4.com/news/local/road-closures-in-levy-county-due-to-flooding
Levy County and surrounding areas have taken heavy rainfall that has resulting in the flooding and subsequent closure of the roads in the area. Locals are worried if the flooding will ever stop as it continues into the weekend and results in nearly 8" of water in some places.
The problem is that the roads are closed due to rainfall, prohibiting travel and preventing aid/resources/emergency services/commuters from getting through the area. Homeowners and residents are also at risk for flooding and are negatively affected by these road closures. Parties this poses a problem for are residents, commuters, Levy County police, Emergency Services, local business, and visitors.

  1. Hello Kelly,
The Gainesville STD story is definitely scary in a way. Also the tragic loss of the girl getting hit by a car is terrible as well. These are interesting stories, ones that maybe you don't see on twitter or where most young people consider getting their news from. I think it's important to be educated on current events, especially to be able to make well informed decisions on things.

17A – Elevator Pitch No. 2

Based on the feedback of my last post, I was more interactive. Because of the COVID-19 diaspora,  I was unable to locate proper clothing and had to make do with the most unobtrusive shirt I had. In the future, I will dress in a business fashion.

18A – Create a Customer Avatar

If I can imagine a prototypical customer for my product, it would be either be a mom and pop shop with a more nutritious/eco-friendly mentality or an eco-warrior Millenial/gen z. What do  you  have in common with the customer avatar? Although I am a zoomer, I am unfortunately not very environmentally proactive. I am conscious of my own impact on the environment and my pollution contribution.  If you have anything in common with the avatar, do you think that is a coincidence? Why? It's not a coincidence. We are similar because we faced the same customer need. If I experience this discrepancy on a day to day basis as a young person in a single use straw banned county, then others have too.
