2A My Bug List

These are a list of things that bug me on a day to day basis:
1. Paper Straws in Alachua County. They exist to replace plastic waste from normal straws but are ineffective and always disintegrate before I'm done with my drink.
2. People skipping the line at restaurants/establishments. They exist because there are ineffective line structures and impatience.
3. Charging cords. There are five different cords for all my devices and they constantly tangle/get lost.
4. Air pods. They're massively uncomfortable, but newer phones are moving toward Bluetooth headphones.
5. Dog waste on the sidewalks and in parks. People are too lazy to pick up their dog's waste or don't remember to bring pick up bags.
6. Loud vacuums. No sound is more irritating then loud vacuums, and older models generally make more noise because of the high powered suction.
7. Disposable razor heads. Razors are extremely expensive and go dull very quickly. With innovation, they may be more efficient and therefore require a lower rate of replacement.
8. Messed up coffee orders. When specifics come into play, coffee orders often get messed up because of time, stress and ineffective labeling systems.
9. Beach litter. There are not enough waste removal bins and little motivation for beachgoers to remove their trash from the beach after using it.
10. Inconsistent bus schedule.
11. Cords breaking. Auxilary and apple charging cords constantly break and are unable to support the function they serve. This may be in an effort to minimize costs by the manufacturer by uses worse materials or maybe faulty product design.
12. Phone cases. They're bulky but necessary to protect your phone.
13. Bright Screens. They irritate my eyes and give me headaches after working for several hours, and I usually can't turn the brightness down further.
14. Public Transport seats. Usually, the bus seats are visibly dirty from repeated use without proper cleaning and have no methods to clean them without looking like a crazy person.
15. Walking home at night along 1st street. There are no streetlights or campus blue lights so sometimes it is unsafe.
16. Bento line during lunchtime. Because of high demand and other increased mobile customers through uber eats and the bento app, the line to bento gets so crowded it goes into the street and takes a long time to receive your order.
17. Umbrella. In Gainesville, I have to keep an umbrella on my person at all times. This umbrella is bulky and oftentimes broken from minor jostling.
18. Eye makeup remover. Despite all the various makeup brands, none have made a product that effectively removed all mascara with a disposable wipe. This may be because mascaras have gotten more semi-permanent and harder to remove.
19. Kid-proof packages. These are almost always impossible to open, making them adult proof too. In an effort to keep kids from accessing the product, they make it tedious and irritating to open the package for everyone else.
20. Toilets where you have to flush with your hand. This is probably the cheapest model, and true to the initial design. However, this method is extremely gross and wastes water.

Reflection:
I found it difficult to come up with 20 fixable things that bug me on a day to day basis. Like Professor Pryor said, I found it most beneficial to run through my memory and find ideas that way. When I explained this assignment to some of my curious friends, they all said it was easy then listed things that bug them that are not 'fixable' like bad classmates and their annoying high school. Although I found it difficult to put myself in the mindset that looks at everythring through a lens that can be improved, I will practice more to think like an entrepreneur.

  1. Kelly,

I always wondered about those airpods. They look extremely uncomfortable. But of course, if Apple makes it, it's must be cool (I don't think so).

A little tip for the razor. Dry the razor first and put a small drop of oil on it after use. The oil prevents rust which causes the razor to cut poorly and wear out quicker. And if you can get a razor with at least 3 blades (5 is better) that will help. You just have to clean between the blades to make sure you remove the hair.

17A – Elevator Pitch No. 2

Based on the feedback of my last post, I was more interactive. Because of the COVID-19 diaspora,  I was unable to locate proper clothing and had to make do with the most unobtrusive shirt I had. In the future, I will dress in a business fashion.

18A – Create a Customer Avatar

If I can imagine a prototypical customer for my product, it would be either be a mom and pop shop with a more nutritious/eco-friendly mentality or an eco-warrior Millenial/gen z. What do  you  have in common with the customer avatar? Although I am a zoomer, I am unfortunately not very environmentally proactive. I am conscious of my own impact on the environment and my pollution contribution.  If you have anything in common with the avatar, do you think that is a coincidence? Why? It's not a coincidence. We are similar because we faced the same customer need. If I experience this discrepancy on a day to day basis as a young person in a single use straw banned county, then others have too.
